Sir, - The Irishman's Diary of April 13th was a thoughtful and timely contribution on the problems facing a rejuvenated Dublin inner city and the need to ensure that the changes benefit the communities already living there.
In particular I welcome the highlighting of the case for retaining at least one of the threatened inner-city hospitals. This must be central to any real rebuilding of a living city.
On a positive note, however, it is worth pointing out that the Markievicz Pool on Townsend Street is not permanently lost. It is simply temporarily shut down to enable a refurbished and improved community facility, including a swimming pool, to be completed. - Yours, etc.,
Cllr Dermot Lacey
