Madam, - The larger than expected numbers which turned out to watch the Inter-Provincial matches in Croke Park on Sunday and the excitement witnessed in both games are heartening indicators for a potential resurgence of venerable competitions.
Perhaps the GAA should consider investing the same resources, publicity and energy which were devoted to the International Rules series - with its often-times ugly scenes and poor quality of skills on display - in the Inter-Provincial competitions.
The history and future of the organisation would be better served by such an approach. - Yours etc,
