International edition of ‘Irish Times’

Sir, – I read in The Irish Times (July 30th) that the newspaper – the real actual pick-it-up and smell-the-ink newspaper – will no longer be available in the UK from September 17th.

You are going to make a lot of people unhappy and feeling uprooted from an important Saturday morning ritual.

This same edition of the newspaper features ideas from several contributors in the Weekend Review section about keeping Irish culture fresh and alive. As your editorial puts it “culture remains entirely within our own control”.

Great idea – how about keeping one very important and lively expression of that culture on newsstands in gloomy post-Brexit Britain? Just about bearing up, – Yours, etc,
