International trade agreements

Sir, – Further to the letter by Brian Hayes MEP (September 26th), the fact of the matter is that there is widespread ignorance of what these trade deals are all about, and it might serve Mr Hayes and the rest of us better if he recognised that and set about ensuring that the public are engaged and have access to all relevant information. A start could be made if all draft proposals from both sides were published and some means found to offer people the opportunity to sanction or otherwise any proposed deal that might emerge. – Yours, etc,
