Sir, – I was intrigued to read that “Documents showing a direct link from Syrian president Bashar al-Assad to alleged atrocities carried out against opponents of his regime have been gathered by an independent organisation set up to investigate war crime”.
This was followed in the next paragraph by the information that "The commission was established in 2012 and funded by foreign governments including Britain and the United States" ("Documents show Assad link to atrocities against opponents", April 19th). – Yours, etc,
