Madam, - Having read the illuminating article in your edition of November 27th on the under-representation of women in Irish politics, I wondered where Irish women had vanished to when reading a subsequent article, "Books of the year: who read what in 2002" in your Weekend Review of November 30th.
The people interviewed, 27 in total, were listed as novelists, poets, historians, academics, critics, politicians and "others". Only five of them were women. How about giving 51 per cent of the population at least 50 per cent representation in such interviews? Surely we are not the invisible majority! - Yours, etc.,
