Madam, - Stuart Green's views on yobbism (May 30th) are positively anarchic. Since when does social decency and responsibility have to have a political tinge? Are these not fundamental to all functioning societies? Is Mr Green seriously suggesting that we all have an innate right to casually urinate and vomit in public - not to mention assaulting people, which is often done in tandem.
I am at a loss to see where Mr McDowell's legislation contradicts his party's philosophy. I suppose were Labour to pull a cosh out of the left pocket this would be far more palatable to Mr Green. - Yours, etc.,
STEVEN NESTOR, Downpatrick Road, Dublin 14.
