Madam, - One does not need to know anything about sport, or about the internal politics of the Olympic Council of Ireland, to realise that, in almost any other country, those responsible for the appalling performance at Athens, and for the dismal prognosis for the next eight to 16 years, would have to resign, because they have demonstrably and shamefully failed to administer public funds adequately in the public interest, and have expressed little faith in their own capacity to improve things in the foreseeable future.
The athletes are not at fault. Pat Hickey and his supporters must go. - Yours, etc.,
RICHARD PINE, Grosvenor Park, Dublin 6.
