Sir, - An Clochan, publishers of The Celtic Pen and Celtic History Review magazines, are currently gathering literary material for an anthology of contemporary. writings in the Celtic languages, prose and poetry, from and relating to the first World War, for translation into Irish and English.
We have gathered contemporary material from Scots Gaelic, Welsh, Breton and even Manx but so far have been completely unable to track down contemporary material written in Irish. Despite the then political climate of the country it is highly unlikely, given the plethora of material written in the other languages, that nothing was written in Irish at this time by those involved in the war.
We therefore ask that readers who know of, or who have access to, material in Irish from this period could contact Diarmuid O Breaslain at An Clochan, 36 Fruithill Park, Beal Feirste 11 8GE, or phone Belfast 232608 with a view to such material being included in the forthcoming anthology. With thanks. - Yours, etc., for An Clochan,
36 Fruithill Park,
Beal Feirste 11 8GE.
