Madam, – Frank McNally (An Irishman’s Diary, September 29th), writes about the correct use of “may” and “might”. “May” indicates permission; “might” indicates possibility. Similarly, “can” indicates ability, whereas “could” indicates possibility. Problem solved. – Yours, etc,
