Sir, - Since the first rugby club in Ireland was founded in TCD during the middle of the 19th century (thanks to the public schools), the game has come a long way to the modern world of professionalism.

Now would be an opportune time to set up an Irish rugby museum. The IRFU is some 125 years old and Lansdowne Road is the oldest international rugby stadium in the world. The Scottish RFU has set a good example with a rugby museum at their ground in Murrayfield. No doubt a similar museum would attract much interest here, with memorabilia to rugby legends like Ernie Crawford, Jack Kyle, Tony O'Reilly and many others.

Good on the GAA who established a fine museum to their sporting culture and history at Croke Park. Perhaps some day rugby might be played at that venue also. - Yours, etc.,
