Sir, – Friends of mine in the Labour Party often bemoan the fact that Labour's traditional working-class vote has deserted the party in recent times. Reading Labour Senator Kevin Humphreys in The Irish Times ("Senator claims anti-Dublin bias in Government plans", August 12th) valiantly standing up for the poor downtrodden citizens of leafy Malahide who, according to the Senator, are at the mercy of an "anti-Dublin bias", I must admit I am also completely at a loss to explain this apparent desertion. – Yours, etc,
