Sir, – Kevin O'Sullivan (November 13th) fails to address how Britain would pay for Trident.
Might I suggest that Britain would use Chinese support, similar to that which it is getting for its civilian nuclear generating programme?
Add a bit of Russian and Saudi finance, and you have a new generation of mutually assured deterrence on the simple premise that all stakeholders would have a veto. In one stroke Britain would maintains its prestige and jobs and the world could sleep easy in its bed from this particular outdated threat.
