Madam, – Is it too much to ask that when the election outcome is known that there be no overt celebrations or triumphalism by those elected to office?
While those returned to Dáil Éireann will undoubtedly feel some satisfaction with their generous salaries, associated allowances and perks, they should remember that this bailed-out country remains in a dire situation and that many of the electorate who put them there will still face the problems of unemployment, loss of income and forced emigration for many months or years ahead. – Yours, etc,
