Sir, - Dick Walsh writes (Opinion, September 16th): "Fine Gael's suggestion of a TV channel devoted to public affairs could turn out to be the most productive idea in its programme." Suddenly, I felt that rising tide of excitement which lifts all votes. Of course. The answer! This could solve the democratic deficit, and RTE's, in one fell swoop. Brathair Mor. A new TV game show in which TDs are required to live in Leinster House for a number of weeks under full glare of the TV cameras, without any contact with ordinary people, and without any knowledge of what is going on in the country. We the public would be able to vote them out, one by one each week, until only one remained. That person would win a super prize, like becoming Taoiseach, or a brown envelope with a small amount of money in it, and/or unlimited shares in Eircom. I think I've struck oil - if you'll pardon the expression. - Yours, etc.,
Niall Bracken, Viewmount Park, Waterford.
