Madam, - Emotive words in relation to sports promote not only alcohol but violence. Examples: "Munster hunt down their prey" (Irish Times Nov 1st); "No Compromise!" - a shouting TV advertisement prior to the Ireland-Australia international rules match; "He takes no prisoners" - words of praise frequently given to soccer and GAA fullbacks.
Such words are associated not with maturity but with arrested development. Governing sports bodies should shout "stop"! - Yours, etc.,
