Sir, - The nation was recently entertained by an outcry after the performance by Tommy Tiernan on the Late Late Show. I wonder if the same people will cause a similar outcry about the blatantly homophobic nature of some of Frank Carson's jokes on December 19th. Gay rights groups have campaigned vigorously for a more enlightened attitude to minority groups than the one that is reinforced by the likes of Mr Carson. Personally I was deeply hurt by the joke concerning homosexuals and the men's toilets and I'm sure many other people were too. Tommy Tiernan had the decency to apologise for any hurt he may have caused people by his act. Will Frank Carson do likewise? - Yours, etc.,
