Madam, - Vincent Browne (Opinion, June 2nd) concludes his attack on AIB with a paragraph of admiration for Charles Haughey.
Mr Browne's moral indignation is thus seen again to be highly selective. Can he not see that the political corruption and gross mismanagement of State finances of the 1980s fostered a climate in which tax evasion was likely?
Without condoning the latter could he not at least desist from admiring those responsible for the former? - Yours, etc,.

Madam, - The Taoiseach finds it hard to believe that those at the top in AIB were unaware of what was going on.
Was anyone at the top in his party aware of what was going on in respect of Mr Lawlor, Mr Burke, the signing of blank cheques, etc.? - Yours, etc.,
