LAWLOR AT THE AIRPORT

MICHAEL G. DICKSON,

MICHAEL G. DICKSON,

Sir, - When Liam Lawlor and his distressed wife were escorted out of Dublin Airport by the back door, this was a sensible and courteous act.

I imagine it is also quite normal, where a well-known person wishes to avoid hostile journalists outside. It did not make any statement about the Lawlors' VIP status. It did not imply approval of Mr Lawlor, or the contrary; nor does this letter.

The persecution of Mr Lawlor is driven by the Opposition, for pre-election tactical reasons (what passes for politics). The media are happy to turn their knives in the wound, and boast about their car chases around the city. Now the rat pack have, outrageously, turned their venom on the Aer Rianta director who was responsible for facilitating Mr and Mrs Lawlor.

Sir, - Amid all the fuss about Liam Lawlor's arrival at Dublin Airport might I ask one simple question: who wants to see another photograph of him anyway? I don't - I'm sick of looking at his appearance nearly every day, and by now I know what he looks like. - Yours etc.,
