Sir, – The issue of lead pipes and the dangers to the health of the nation, in particular young children, raises some interesting questions as to what exactly is covered by the Irish Water utility service? If there’s a fault in the electricity wires the ESB come out and fixes it, sometimes in the most challenging of conditions. Why therefore does the Irish Water customer have to pay for a fault with the pipes? We’re being asked to pay for the utility service, ie water, and not the structures that it is delivered by. – Yours, etc,
CATHERINE BOLAND,
Greystones, Co Wicklow.
