Sir, - As a secondary school teacher I would like to congratulate the various governments over the past 20 years or so on having successfully taught the young people of Ireland the following:

(a) that might is right;

(b) that deviousness pays;

(c) that notice will be taken if you threaten life;

(d) that dishonesty if the best policy;

(e) that there are two kinds of law in this country - one for ordinary criminality and other for wealthy criminality;

(f) that the only crime for which you pay is that of getting caught;

(g) and that to those who have, more will indeed be given.

Who needs qualified teachers? - Yours, etc.,
