Sir, - We would like to take this opportunity to correct an inaccuracy that appeared in your edition of February 16th. In an interview with Mr Vincent Browne, Ms Liz McManus TD inaccurately stated that there was no maternity unit in Letterkenny General Hospital, Co Donegal.
Among the services provided at Letterkenny General Hospital is a full obstetric service led by three consultant obstetrician gynaecologists.
The maternity unit at the hospital contains 38 beds, three delivery rooms, four first-stage beds and one single room. A total of 2,300 admissions were recorded last year, with 1,640 deliveries, including 21 sets of twins.
We would be grateful if you would clarify this inaccuracy for your readers and for those who continue to avail of the maternity services at Letterkenny General Hospital. - Yours, etc.,
ANN McLOONE,
Communications Officer,
North Western Health Board,
