DAVID JACOBS,
Sir, - Is the warning from the Department of Enterprise, Trade and Employment to life assurance companies "that if they lure investors through sharp sales and marketing practices they should make provisions in their accounts to pay disappointed customers what they thought was being offered" (The Irish Times, February 6th) a foretaste of things to come? In future can all sellers of financial products expect to receive similar warnings?
If so, may I suggest that the Department start close to home with its near neighbours in Government, the Department of Public Enterprise, in relation to the sale of shares in the then Telecom Éireann? - Yours, etc.,
DAVID JACOBS,
