Madam, - I write to ask your readers for help with my researches into the life and career of William Moloney (born Limerick 1885, died England 1970).
A gifted linguist, he was joint general director of Reuters News Agency when he retired in 1944, having worked for that organisation in many countries for over 30 years.
I understand that a manuscript diary of his (which he kept in Irish) was brought back to this country some years ago; unfortunately, I have been unable to locate its present whereabouts.
If any of your readers can help me with this search, or if they know anything at all about Moloney (e.g., "Moloney's Revenge"), I would be very grateful.
Any materials supplied will, of course, be handled with the utmost care and fully acknowledged in any subsequent publication. - Yours, etc.,
Prof DÁIBHÍ Ó CRÓINÍN, Department of History, National University of Ireland, Galway.
