Sir, – Apropos David Adams’s article (Opinion, October 11th). For years I have suffered with depression. I was hospitalised, received treatment, including ECT on many occasions, and I am still daily taking medication.
The greatest support I received, outside of the nursing and medical help, was that of my family, friends, my parishioners and my community.
The last time I left hospital I was greeted by my superior with the words, “Welcome home”. Those words stay with me to this day.
As David Adams made reference to “a gay or lesbian person” with reference to acceptance within family and their everyday lives, my hope is that they also will hear those same words from their families and from the church. “Welcome home”. – Yours, etc,
