Sir, - Allow me to congratulate whatever Government Department is responsible for the new linear car parks that have sprung up in Dublin and its environs.

These handy, free parking spaces may be distinguished by their liver-pink colour and also by the outline of a bicycle in white which appears at intervals. This is to warn unwary cyclists that they may be straying into the domain of the motorist. Dangerous!

Particularly fine and well used examples of these linear car parks are to be seen on Broadford Road in Ballinteer, behind St Attracta's Church and School and also on Nutgrove Avenue, Rathfarnham, especially opposite the Church of the Good Shepherd. - Yours, etc.,
