Madam, - Emer Massey's vivid description of the litter problem in Co Kildare was eloquent, succinct and pungent (An Irishwoman's Diary, April 4th). It accurately reflects the situation which we all witness daily in this country.
Perhaps the only positive means of imbuing our juniors and youths with a real sense of pride in this fair land is to start at primary school level and continue through the secondary system with a relevant civics education programme.
As for the dumpers, raise the fines and fund extra wardens to ensure compliance with the existing litter laws. - Yours, etc,
