Sir, - I would like to advise M. Twomey, assistant Dublin city manager (June 6th), that until Dublin City Council gets its act together on cleaning our area, things are not going to improve. There appear to be no inspectors going around on foot to see that litter removal and cleaning are carried out properly and regularly. Until this happens and fines are meted out there are going to be no improvements.
I would like to invite Mr Twomey to walk around my street with me and see what needs doing. I live close to the IMMA and Kilmainham Jail. Not only do tourists view our history and art exhibitions; they also view eyesores of litter. No wonder tourist numbers are dropping when they are subjected to these unpleasant experiences. - Yours, etc.,
Mrs URSULA SHERIDAN,
James's Street,
Dublin 8.
