Sir, – Patsy McGarry writes that the 45th Irish Church Music Association Summer School hopes to encourage young people to be more involved in church music (“Initiative to encourage young people to take part in church music”, June 30th). The observation is of particular interest to the generation of church musicians educated in the Catholic cathedrals up and down the country who now occupy the organ benches and choir stalls of the Church of Ireland. Rather than seek out new flock, do they not wonder why the old sheep have strayed? – Yours, etc,
