Sir, - It was not that very long ago that both the State and the Church branded certain children as "illegitimate", less esteemed from birth. Presumably the relationships which produced these children were likewise perceived as being of dubious legitimacy.
But, are loving extra-marital relationships really less "legitimate" than those found in so many dysfunctional marriages? - Yours, etc.,
