AIDAN A. LARKIN,
Sir, - Roy Keane publicly declared he would love to play for Ireland. Equally he declared, in robust language, before the entire Irish squad, that he would hate to play for Ireland while Mick McCarthy was manager. It therefore boiled down to a contest between love and hate. We are all aware of the result. Hate: 1; Love: nil. - Yours, etc.,

Sir, - In relation to Roy Keane's comments when describing his tackle on Alf-Inge Haaland of Manchester City: he has described this as revenge for a season-ending injury he picked up while trying to trip Haaland two seasons earlier when Haaland played for Leeds United. Maybe I don't understand the concept of revenge fully, but how do you revenge a situation that you yourself created in the first place? I'm afraid that these comments have proved that Roy Keane is an insecure, neurotic, psychotic posing as a hero. - Yours, etc.,
