A chara, - I have been commissioned to prepare a biography of the late Lt-Gen Michael Joseph Costello, and I would appreciate hearing from anyone who knew him, or of him, during his distinguished military and civilian careers.
General Costello was a youthful, active volunteer during the War of Independence, and he subsequently became a dedicated officer of the national Army. During the dark days of the Emergency, 1939-1945, his reputation as the commander of the 1st "Thunderbolt" Division, which was prepared to resist invasion from any quarter in the South, was legendary.
After the war, and at an early age for his senior rank, he retired and became a successful "captain of industry".
Any help will be gratefully acknowledged in the book. - Is mise,
