Madam, - I take the Luas from Balally to the city centre each day. Until this morning, the car park at Balally has been free of charge, but now there is a charge of €4. I would like to know who is responsible for deciding that a car park specifically built for people using a public transport system (which was built with taxpayers' money) should be charged for. €4 a day, along with the €3.80 return ticket to the city centre, is an outrageous price to charge anyone.
The Luas was built to alleviate traffic (or so we were led to believe), but having to pay €7.80 a day to get to work does not encourage people to leave their cars at home. - Yours, etc.,
