Madam, - There are several reasons why the Irish Road Haulage Association did not ask what height the Dublin port tunnel would be.
1. It seemed reasonable to assume that it would be 5.2 metres (similar to bridges on all national roads and motorways).
2. It would be perceived as a silly question.
3. The relevant Ministers and officials had more on their minds.

However given all that has happened in the past few years, and to save a few million on consultants' fees in the future, could I respectfully ask The Minister for Transport what height he proposes to make the Luas stilts across the Red Cow Roundabout? - Yours, etc.,
