Sir, – A letter writer reminds us (September 25th) that Irish Horse Racing is determined to hold onto ancient and outmoded measurement, with their use of miles and furlongs. It occurs to me that it is hard to take seriously any system that insists on measuring the height of horses in "hands" and the height of humans in "feet". – Yours, etc,
