Magnificent Munster

Madam, - I have never been a great rugby fan

Madam, - I have never been a great rugby fan. The ball is the wrong shape, there is no goalkeeper and games are often won and lost on penalty kicks awarded for very obscure breaches of the rules. But wasn't it great to see an Irish team (albeit caparisoned in red rather then green) win a European Cup (albeit mini-Europe - how many other European countries apart from the Brits and the French actually play the game seriously?). So: good on yez, lads! However I do have a couple of questions which I hope your rugby-fan readers may be able to answer.

Firstly, how did Munster, the home of the GAA, take so enthusiastically to rugby, a game that up to recently was banned?

Secondly, how on earth did we get the other countries to allow us to put the pick of each of our provinces against their club teams? - Yours, etc,
