A chara, - Fianna Fáil likes to describe itself as "the Republican Party". But what kind of republican party is it that allows the continuing dereliction in Parnell Square and O'Connell Street at the heart of our capital city?

It seems that there is money in abundance for football stadiums (the new opium of the masses), or for a nondescript spike (or spire) in the place of Nelson's Pillar, or for a profusion of posters for would-be TDs (unnecessary in an age of advanced communication systems) - but not for the preservation of the precious heritage of Ireland.
