PAUL KERINS,
Sir, - Why, in this age, is it necessary to vote in your home polling station? Why is it not possible to vote in any polling station if you have a valid ID? Why can't you vote over the Internet? Why are we asked to vote mid-week and not at the weekend? Why does the Government lament the poor turnout for elections and referendums when it would be easier for everyone if you could vote from home?
There must be thousands of people living and working away from their family homes who can't just simply go home to vote. What if, for example, you home polling station was in Mayo and you worked in Dublin. I doubt if you would drive to Mayo and back to vote no matter how concerned you are. So can anyone tell me why this outdated system is in place? - Yours, etc.,
PAUL KERINS,
Mulhussey,
Kilcock,
Co Kildare.
