Sir, – I refer to your report on Bradley Manning (World News, July 31st). Our confused world cries out for many more people with ideals and moral courage. Despite the retribution he clearly must have foreseen would follow his actions, he did the world a huge service by blowing the whistle on the US’s war crimes.
He is the American deserving of a Nobel Peace Prize, not warmonger Barack Obama, who, if he had an ounce of principle or decency, should never have accepted his totally undeserved award. Since his election he has exterminated tens of thousands of human beings in Iraq, Afghanistan, Pakistan and elsewhere, not to mention all the young Americans he has sacrificed. We need many more of the calibre of Manning, Edward Snowden and Julian Assange. – Yours, etc,
