Marlay Park under threat

Sir, – Congratulations to Tim O'Brien for his eloquent report on the looming threat to Marlay Park ("Incalculable damage could be done to Marlay Park", Home News, August 13th).

The sad fact is that Marlay, which is a wonderful public amenity, is being groomed as a venue for concerts.

Its beauty, historical significance and sanctuary for wildlife are being disrupted, and in some cases ruined permanently. The latest atrocity is the building of a bridge across the lake solely to facilitate access to the concerts. All for monetary profit.

What a terrible shame! Can nothing be done to stop it? – Yours, etc,
