Sir, - Regarding the horrific, appalling, sickening turn of events in East Timor, I don't think I need to say too much - it is being covered daily by every newspaper, TV and radio station worth noting. Will it be another "lesson to be learnt", as Rwanda turned out to be?
As a concerned supporter of the cause of East Timor, I am too frustrated to say any more except that whatever little we can do now, we should do, and that is why I shall be attending a vigil outside the British Embassy in Ballsbridge this Wednesday evening from 5.30 to 7.30 p.m organised by AFrI and the East Timor Ireland Solidarity Campaign.
For in the midst of all this supposed support of the international community (whoever they are any more) for the beleagured people of East Timor, the British establishment somehow still sees fit to invite the murderous Indonesian military to an arms fair in England. Need I say more? - Yours, etc.,
