Sir, - I refer to Denis McCormack's recent letter, in which he uses the term "plundering" in relation to the recent album featuring the late John McCormack. While I appreciate the undoubted esteem in which he holds the late count, he obviously does not accord me, as producer of the Duet album, the same dignity.
Let me assure Mr McGrath that the recordings and the legacy of John McCormack were treated with utmost respect and admiration. Indeed it is to be hoped that a wider body of people will appreciate the talents of McCormack through the work undertaken in bringing his voice to a new generation in a more accessible and audibly pleasing recording. Already thousands more people in this country have experienced McCormack through this new recording than would have without it. Is that not a good thing? - Yours, etc., John Kearns,
Producer, DUETS, Enigma Music Ltd., St Mary's Place, Dublin 7.
