Sir, - With reference to Sean Webster's letter (October 18th), if he consults even a middlebrow dictionary, he will find that middle age is "the time of life between youth and old age, usually thought of as the years between 40 and 60".
I agree with Andrew Robinson (October 20th) when he says that it is a term "subject to loss of focus, softening and expansion . . ."
Unlike him, I am well into the old age department! - Yours, etc.,
