Madam, - In an interview on RTÉ last weekend, Mr Brian Lenihan said he was impressed by the Government's record of caring for the underprivileged in our society and cited the issue of medical cards to the over-70s as an example of its compassion.
I wonder if Mr Lenihan can be unaware that the provision of medical cards for thousands of people whose incomes are well in excess of the average was done at the expense of hundreds of thousands of people who are living below the poverty line? - Yours, etc,
KATHLEEN MAURER, Dornden Park, Booterstown, Co Dublin.
