Madam, - I am researching the engagement fought at Jadotville in the Congo in 1961 by A company, 35th Battalion, Western Command under UN control. This was the first major battle fought by the Irish Defence Forces since the War of Independence and is the Irish equivalent of Rourke's Drift. Any information or contacts would be very helpful.

In particular I am interested in unit histories, operational re- ports, wireless transmissions or personal papers and recollections. All information received will be treated confidentially.
