Madam, - The current debate on mental health service provision is welcome. For many decades this arena has suffered from a lack of resources, political will and direction.
While not everyone may subscribe to the comments of Minister of State Tim O'Malley on waiting-lists and over-prescription of drugs, I would like to compliment him for having the bottle to say publicly what many people have been muttering under their breath for several years.
It is in the public interest that O'Malley continues to ask pertinent questions relating to past, current and future practices in the treatment of mental health. Shooting the messenger doesn't serve the public interest. - Yours, etc,
DAMIEN O'DWYER, Dromkeen, Co Limerick.
