Sir, - Victoria White, Arts Editor of The Irish Times, is generous to a fault with Messiah XXI (Opinion, December 7th). She says: "You have to give Frank McNamara huge credit for having the idea in the first place."
She did, of course, omit to mention the 1992 CD Handel's Messiah, A Soulful Celebration. It looks as if Quincy Jones and Stevie Wonder and a hatful of other big names - including by the way, Gladys Knight and Chaka Khan - were doing this sort of thing a long time ago. Try the Internet for details. - Yours, etc.,
Sean Gordon, Millhouse, Saggart, Co Dublin.
