Sir, – I see from Michael Parsons's article on the successful sale of Michael Flatley's paintings ("Flatley's paintings generate sales of €1 million", August 4th) that, between the jigs and the reels, he has tapped into a métier which is proving to be a step in the right direction. – Yours, etc,

Sir, – I think Michael Flatley's paintings The Grand National and The Gouldian's Perch are quite stunning works. I'm not surprised they were snapped up for considerable sums at the artist's debut exhibition.

But what intrigues me is when does the remarkably gifted artist decide on a title for his unique creations? Before or after their completion? – Yours, etc,
