Sir, – Deputy Wallace has apparently agreed to pay 50 per cent of his Dáil salary to the Revenue Commissioners to address his tax arrears. As a fully tax-compliant individual (we PAYE types have little choice!) paying a marginal rate of at least 67 per cent, I find this offensively lenient and am unable to afford pink shirts. – Yours, etc,
Sir, – The media and some journalists in this country seem to think they have the moral right to speak for the rest of us. I personally think there is a lot of vindictiveness regarding Mick Wallace’s personal problems.
I could not believe the amount of coverage given to this story in your paper and in others. The people who broke this country have still got seats in the Dáil. The people who said they would change everything that was wrong with the country, turned around and said that they cannot change a thing.
