Sir, – I read Jill Flannery's piece in Generation Emigration (October 28th) with great interest.
She talks about the plight of her Syrian friends and states that “until Ireland is willing to offer a warm welcome to people who are risking their lives to get to safety” she will not be returning.
An honourable position indeed, but I wonder if Jill is aware of exactly how many Syrian refugees her new country – the United Arab Emirates – has committed to accepting?
Funny she didn’t mention that.
